THE LOW DOWN ON THE “STROBING”
There has been a lot of talk in the beauty world about a new technique that all the celebrities have been repping called “strobing.” I am all about a good highlight contour combo so I had to check out what exactly was all this talk about strobing.
WHAT IS STROBING?
Strobing is adding pigment by highlighting parts of the face that the light naturally hits to create a glow dewy effect on the face.
CONTOURING VS. STROBING
Everyone asks what exactly is the difference between contouring and strobing? Contouring takes many steps including also highlighting but there are much more products involved in contouring than strobing. Strobing is perfect for summer because it requires less products and gives a glow creating dimension on tanned skin. Strobing simply is just highlighting in more places and skipping the contour and messing with the darker shades. Essentially Kendall Jenner is to Strobing as Kimmy K is to Contouring. I personally would rather the KJ, flawlessly and naturally beautiful.
WHERE TO STROBE?
The key is where you place the highlighter. The main spots to hit are down the nose, above the cheek bones, cupids bow, brow arch, temples, and a little (and I mean a little) on the forehead. You can even take it a step further and strop your collar bones and your chest to achieve a more illuminated look. Beyonce’s makeup artist Sir John, who used the strobing technique for Beyonce’s look at the Met ball took it to the next level by strobing her legs.
But remember ladies less is more, you want to look strobed not sweaty!!
