The Weekly Lo-Down: Healthy Restart

THE WEEKLY LO-DOWN

Summer is typically the time that most people become motivated to get into the best shape of their lives. For me, being in Beautini wedding mode this summer has led to me forgetting to prioritize working out. Before going on Coupled I was the more disciplined than I ever was with my workout schedule, my diet, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Naturally, I have a weakness for sweets and burgers but lately I have found myself ordering from Seamless and binge eating more and more with the excuse of “working late at the office.”

With my grandma passing away this summer, my grandpa (who is 97!) has stressed to me how important it is to live a healthy life. This weekend made me I realize that I need to incorporate workouts into my life again and to stop making excuses. I decided to book a Soul Cycle class earlier tonight right after work and it was the PERFECT way to get back into feeling good.

The instructor chose songs that I easily recognized and made me excited to cycle to the beats. I love doing things or being around people who make me feel happy and motived. This Soul Cycle class did just that. I love getting way too into the songs, singing my heart out and not having anyone be able to hear me, and adding my own flare of dancing to the routines in the darkness. It’s so easy to get wrapped up into the details of life and my never-ending to-do list, but working out brings me back to the present and helps me live in the moment.

I left the class feeling reenergized and ready to jump-start my healthy lifestyle once again. Of course I am off to drinks for a networking event so I am hoping this healthy mindset sticks with me as I order my cocktail! I will keep you posted on my journey as I search for new workout classes, cookbooks and ways to keep me focused on getting fit again!
